Mumbai. The Sensex fell 240.32 points to settle at 39,058.06 during the week ended on Friday on weak global cues.The Nifty 50 index fell by 77.95 points to settle at 11,583.90. The equity market remained volatile during the week. On the first day of the week on Monday, the market was shut for Assembly election.

On Tuesday the BSE Sensex tumbled down by 334.54 points to 38,963.84 as traders booked profits after six-day rising streak. A sharp fall in IT major Infosys put pressure on bourses. The Nifty 50 index fell 71.95 points to 11,589.90.
Indices resumed uptrend after a day's breather on Wednesday, as the Sensex rose 94.99 points to 39,058.83. The Nifty 50 index rose 15.75 points to 11,604.10.
Key equity barometers ended with small losses on Thursday, as the BSE Sensex, slipped by 38.44 points to 39,020.39. The Nifty 50 index declined 21.50 points to 11,582.60.
Market ended with marginal gains after a volatile session on Friday, as the benchmark index of BSE Sensex, rose 37.67 points to 39,058.06. The Nifty 50 index rose 1.30 points to 11,583.90.
Overseas, US durable goods orders tumbled by 1.1 pc in September after rising by a revised 0.3 pc in August, a report released by the Commerce Department on Thursday showed.
