Director of Critically acclaimed International feature film Parched, Leena Yadav is set to take on the reins for the Geena Davis-led feature, The Cowgirl's Last Ride. Davis has been confirmed as playing the lead for the project backed by Los Angeles-based production house, Resonate Entertainment.
Davis, who shot to fame with The Fly (1986), won her Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress For The Accidental Tourist (1988). The actress is also known for her performance in Thelma & Louise (1991) which earned her another Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the deeds on the project. He tweeted, “Academy Award winner #GeenaDavis to enact lead in Leena Yadav's #CowgirlsLastRide...
The story will revolve around an ageing Texas cowgirl who runs away from her nursing home to live the rest of her life on her own terms. With her only son in pursuit, the woman travels across America first on horse, then on a car.
Resonate Entertainment was formed last year by Susan Cartsonis, Suzanne Farwell, and Brent Emery. The film will also see Aseem Bajaj, producer of Leena Yadav's Parched (2015) come on-board as co-producer.
